This is a small section taken from the introduction of ‘The Negroes in Negroland’. A perfect description of them. The whole introduction is beautifully written.

While, therefore, with an involuntary repugnance which we cannot control, and with a wholesome antipathy which it would be both unnatural and unavailing in us to attempt to destroy, we behold the crime-stained blackness of the negro, let us, also, at the same time, take cognizance of:

His low and compressed Forehead ; His hard, thick Skull
His small, backward-thrown Brain ; His short, crisp Hair
His flat Nose
His thick Lips ;
His projecting, snout-like Mouth ;
His strange, Eunuch-toned Voice ;
The scantiness of Beard on his Face ;
The Toughness and Unsensitiveness of his Skin ; The Thinness and Shrunkenness of his Thighs
His curved Knees
His calfless Legs ;
His low, short Ankles ;
His long, flat Heels ;
His glut-shaped Feet
The general Angularity and Oddity of his Frame ;
The Malodorous Exhalations from his Person
His Puerility of Mind ;
His Inertia and Sleepy-headedness ;
His proverbial Dishonesty
His predisposition to fabricate Falsehoods ; and
His Apathetic Indifference to all Propositions and Enter-
prises of Solid Merit.

The negro is not a man or woman and should not be recognized as human.
The negro is nothing more than semi domesticated savage jungle animal that somehow learned to speak.
The negro is not fit to walk amoung humans.

Wow. What a loop hole in immigration law. But I bet very few if any Africans took advantage of that rule.
