Poopils of Wiamoase Methodist Primate School in the Sekyere South District of the Ashanti region [Ghana] are studying under a death trap structure that needs urgent attention.

The four classroom block which inhabits poopils from class one to class, has cracks all over the building, no doors and windows and torn roofing sheets, disrupting academic lessons when it rains.

A teacher who wanted to remain anonymous told Otec News’ reporter Francis Appiah that the primary school will cease to exist if it is pulled down because of a lack of building to temporally accommodate them.

The teacher said a lot of letters have been written to the district assemble for assistance but to no avail, all that we rely on “are prayers that it will not collapse.”

Due to the deplorable nature of the building and lack of desks and chairs, most of the chillens have been redrawn, leaving just a few, the teacher said.

Kakindo Primate School is shit!

Kakindo Primary School, is a government aided school first established in 1970s but lasted for a few years and it collapsed.
However, in 1994, the school was re-established to provide free education to the community.

So this is an example from East Africa. Different region, same findings...

Residents decry poor state of Kakindo Primary School

Parents, local leaders and administrators of Kakindo Primary School in Bugangari Sub-county, Rukungiri District [Uganda] are worried over the poor state of the school ahead of the re-opening next week.

The school, located about 25kms from Rukungiri town, has three classroom blocks, two of which re made of mud and wattle.

The other classroom block is permanent and was constructed by Bugangari Sub-county in 2007.

The school is in a sorry state with dusty floors and no windows. The roofs are leaking, the walls are cracked and the timber is worn out, while the nursery section building is supported by wooden pillars.

Mr Moses Kanyesigye, a parent, said the government has left the school at the mercy of parents, who are poor to maintain and support the school.

The head teacher, Mr Patrick Rubarenzya, said since its establishment, the government has not put up a single structure at the school except a toilet that was built by the district in 2012.

Mr Rubarenzya said whenever it rains they send pupils home and teachers take shelter in the nearby.

“This situation affects pupils’ performance because all the time they are thinking about rain. So there is less concentration on studies. Mr Rubarenzya said.

I think the parents really want to send their niglets to skrool to get rid of these pests for much of the day. Rural niglets should work at home but they're lazy and useless. Tantuo M/C Primary School is found in the Nandom Municipality in the Upper West Region [Ghana]. The school has a population of over three hundred (300) pupils.

The pupils in this school lie on their stomachs to write. In some of the classes, there are no desks for the pupils to sit on. This leaves them with no option but to lie on their bellies to write.

How about sitting on their asses? Or would that squash their brains?

The two classes that seem to have furniture are broken beyond repair and very dangerous for use.

The repercussions of this according to the headteacher and other staff are that some of the pupils fall asleep as they lie down to write. The pupils are unable to properly develop their writing skills. They, therefore, have very horrible handwriting.

It is worth noting that the pupils we have in the various basic schools are the hope of their parents and that of the country. We consistently refer to them as future leaders. We expect them to move this country to the next level when our generation is no longer in existence.

More than 400 poopils at Ogada Primary School in South Kabuoch in Ndhiwa constituency [Homa Bay, Kenya] have been sent back home due to the poor hygiene conditions after a directive from public health officers over the possible spread of cholera disease.

It indicated that the available latrines are filled up and there was a high likelihood of people contracting cholera.
