BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. — Detectives continue to investigate a deadly shooting that happened just after 10:30 p.m. on Saturday near the sand volleyball courts at Wilbur Young Park.

LaDronal Hamilton Jr., 19, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Karmello Matlock, 20, of Independence, were both shot and later pronounced good at local hospitals.

"We had this entire incident on camera," BSPD Sgt. Keegan Hughes said. He encourages parents to talk to their children about what to do if they are in a situation that escalates.

"In a situation like this, you can watch it on camera, and you can tell the mood changes. You can’t hear what’s going on, but you can see the mood changes in the park," Hughes explained. "A lot of people start leaving. There’s going to be signs before a big fight. Usually, people crowding into one area, aggressive yelling. That’s the time that you want to leave."
