Classic 1956 Porsche 356 completes Antarctic road trip

Renee Brinkerhoff has completed a journey to Antarctica with her 1956 Porsche 356, which was converted to be driven on snow and ice for a 356-mile journey across the continent.

Just before lockdown down my husband and myself started a restoration on a 356 Carrara GS, the engine on the Carrera is unique to that model in have double overhead cams. Finally this year after lockdown all parts we needed arrived and we reassembled it, the car is now going to live in it's ancestral home Stuttgart in a huge private collection probably hardly ever driven again. Beautiful car, most people think of them as a Beetle in drag but they really so much more especially the Carrera.

Lovely cars. Definitive and streamlined.
