Corned beef reubens better and far cheaper at home.

I have almost completely stopped eating out since everywhere you go they'll stuff you with carbs and seed oils. Tavern down the street made a really good Reuben but they started letting niggers in, besides that I don't wanna think what they cost now with Brandflation running unchecked, so I decided to make my own. It's fairly simple:

Get a corned beef brisket, light rye bread, sauerkraut, Russian dressing and Swiss cheese and butter.

Cook the brisket in a glass caserole dish with 1/2 water in the bottom (use a trivet if you have one), cover tightly with foil and bake for 1h/lb @325F. Slice thin and try not to eat it all before you make the sandwich.

Assemble the sandwich, I like to put the meat and cheese side in the toaster oven for 10min to get the cheese melting. But it together with the dressing sk side and butter both sides. I use a cast iron skillet with generous extra butter. brown both sides and enjoy. I pretty much inhale them. 😍 Probably costs 1/4 what it would in a restaurant. Looking for Russian dressing without soy oil, but that's probably a pipe dream. Maybe I'll see if I can make my own.

Found recipe for Russian Dressing

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c plain yogurt, or sour cream (I had sour cream on hand)
  • 3 Tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp fresh grated horseradish, or prepared horseradish (I use More)
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
Instructions
  1. Mix all dressing ingredients together in a small bowl.
  2. Dressing can be used immediately, but the flavor will improve if refrigerated for at least 10 minutes before using.
  3. Store the dressing in a sealed container in the refrigerator for 1 week.

I'm not a good cook at all.

Prefer a real deli
When we lived near Harrogate in North Yorkshire I was a partner in a deli/restaurant eventually my business partner bought me out but that was the plan, she's half Italian and her mama taught her how to cook so my Spanish influences from Texas made a good mix.
