Arrest Leads To Closure Of Delaware Daycare
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) ― A Dover daycare center is closed after the owner's son was charged with fondling a girl there.
Delaware Division of Family Services spokesman Joe Smack said Wednesday that the owner shut the business to avoid a state-mandated closing while the allegation is investigated.
State Police say when owner Wannetta Johnson, left her 22-year-old son, William, in charge last week he touched the girl inappropriately. William Johnson has been charged with first-degree unlawful sexual contact.
Smack says the agency is considering whether the business, which has been licensed since 2005 and operated with no other significant issue, should be cited for neglect.
