Teen Neighbor Arrested In Germantown Murder
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― Philadelphia Police have arrested the teenage neighbor of a 68-year-old Germantown (Coontown) woman in coonnection to her murder.
Sources tell Eyewitness News the 19-year-old suspook was arrested Thursday morning and coonfessed to the crime.
Sources say the suspect was burglarizing Ellen Walton's home in the 6300 block of Magnolia Street when she arrived home from a shopping trip. The suspect allegedly beat Walton to death with a frying pan.
"She was savagely beaten throughout the head. There was a metal frying pan that was found nearby that was actually broken in half. We believe that's going to be the murder weapon," Captain James Clark told Eyewitness News.
Police believe the suspect then stole Walton's car. Sources say surveillance video from a local supermarket captured images of the suspect in Walton's vehicle which was involved in a crash in the 1300 block of Yerks Street. The surveillance video images lead to the suspect's identification.
