Former US President, Others Plant Tree In Lafayette Square Park

NEW ORLEANS --A monument marks the spot where three of the world's most powerful men once planted an oak tree as a gift to the people of New Orleans.
The marker for the monument still remains, but the tree has been hacked down.

"We don't know who did it," said federal Judge Sally Shushan.

Shushan heads up the group that oversees Lafayette Square Park.

She showed pictures of how the tree looked after someone cut in down in September.

The tree was planted in April of 2008 by former President George W. Bush, Mexican President Felipe Calderon and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper as a gift to the city for hosting the prestigious North American Leaders Summit.

"It's really a shame that this type of vandalism takes place. If people do not like the former president don't chop down the tree, protest in a peaceful manner without hurting the recovery of New Orleans," Shushan said.

Police have been notified about the vandalism, but the leaders of the state Republican Party said the damage is done.

"I can't believe it's a New Orleanian that would do that. I bet it's a radical group not from this state," said Louisiana Republican Party Chairman Roger Villere.

The Lafayette Square Conservancy is working hard to try and find the people responsible for chopping down the tree.

They have some leads and they do say a new tree will soon go up to replace the once chopped down.

This is just another example of niggergratitude.

This is what you get for trying to do something nice for coons. They did this nigger city a big favor by choosing it as the venue for that summit. I hope that was the last one NOLA ever sees, at least until they run the niggers out.
