Laurel man charged with statutory rape of 14-year-old

- A Jones County man has been charged with statutory rape involving a 14-year-old girl in Lamar County.
Curtis Taylor, 38, of Laurel turned himself in to Lamar County authorities earlier this week.
He is accused in the rape of a minor which allegedly occurred in the Oak Grove area near Hattiesburg last month.
Taylor was released on $7,500 bond.
He was arrested two years ago for sexual battery by Laurel police, but he was never indicted because of a lack of evidence.
