I just saw a pre-release version of the movie scheduled for a public screening at Comic-con in San Diego on July 26th. No mass market release date is scheduled as of yet.
This is an independent, sci-fi post-apocolypse-world thriller that takes place in the 28th century. What I first thought was going to be "All Quiet on the Western Front" meets "The Fifth Element" is that and more.
Ron Perlman stars as Brother Samual who leads a team of battle-hardened soldiers into the depths of a ruined 21st century city to save mankind from immortal, mutated humans that are vitually unstoppable. Yeah, I thought it was a corny premise too but the director, Simon Hunter, a virtual unknown has something here. From the technological concepts of steam driven flying machines to the near mono-chomatic cinematography this movie caught my eye.
Ayn Rand style rugged individualism vs. The Machine, which takes humans and churns out mindless, mutated killing machines, and must be destroyed.
Watch for it when it comes out.
