Police have released an image of a man thought to have bashed and robbed an elderly woman in Sydney's south west.
The 83-year-old woman was walking with an 84-year-old man from Fairfield station at around 6am Sunday when the alleged robber began following them.
As the pair reached nearby Vine Street the man, thought to be in his mid-twenties, allegedly struck the woman before grabbing her handbag and fleeing the scene.
The woman, who suffered minor injuries to her leg, was treated by paramedics at the scene.
The robber is described as being of black African appearance, 170-180cm tall with a skinny build and a cropped 'afro' style hair cut.
