The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office arrested 53-year-old Rufus Rivers of Ladson for allegedly scamming an elderly woman out of $15,000. Officials say Rivers told the woman he would pay for the woman’s mortgage but kept the money instead. The woman’s house is now under foreclosure. The woman’s home will soon be auctioned off.
