Troopers said police were trying to pull over a vehicle for reckless driving minutes before it crashed, killing two people and critically injuring two others early Saturday morning.The crash happened around 3 a.m. on Narcissus Avenue near Monroe Road in Sanford, HOME OF TRAYBOON MARTIN troopers said.
According to officials, Sanford police tried to pull over the 2004
Pontiac Grand Prix on Monroe Road for reckless driving. The driver stopped briefly, but then fled from the officer and turned onto Narcissus Avenue, troopers said. The officer did not chase the vehicle and instead followed it at a distance.
Moments later, troopers said the officer discovered the crashed Pontiac on Narcissus Avenue. The driver had apparently lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree.
