I laugh when I see stories like this because I've seen the future for these parents.

About 3 years ago I happened to find myself in Portland, OR, my old home town. Stopping for a ubiquitous coffee drink that defines life in Portland, I happened to notice that two, upper-30ish eco-chic yuppie types were standing around waiting for their drinks with a black kid, probably 11-13 years of age. The parents were blandly Portland typical. The child? Full ghetto nigger.

The two "parents" were attempting to enjoy their drink outside while their little charity case kicked the chairs, kicked the table legs, spit on the ground, all the while grunting apishly that he didn't want to be there in his monkey language. Curious about the scene, this is still quite unusual to see in Portland, I got my drink and kinda wandered close and attempted to nonchalantly spy on the scene. Hearing the kid talk was hilarious. Full groid babble. The parents couldn't go 10 seconds without admonishing the youth for some infraction against social mores.

The parents seemed to be growing more frustrated with the kid, the kid with the parents. And then the mother said something sotto voce that I couldn't quite catch, but it ended with the mother getting a middle finger in her face for her efforts.

I just laughed and went on my way.
