Default Onegro wants to raise the minium wage...ok

minimum wage 9 bucks? hmmm i have a better idea. how about we give the power to the employee, and eliminate the minimum wage and let the employee negotiate their pay as they see fit? some employers use the minimum wage as a crutch and say thats the only pay level they offer giving the employee no chance to negotiate wages......oh wait the unions would never letthat happen...why join a union when YOU have the same power as a union...nevermind

    any thoughts?

Raising minimum wage and now getting rid of the penny

means one thing only: prepare for (hyper)inflation.

Fuck Onegro! That is my primary thought. This would definitely hurt my small business, as far as being able to hire entry level workers. For what I pay, overall, to hire and employ people for menial positions, $9 is a huge burden. $8 an hour here in CA is a huge burden!

Minimum wage needs to stay right where it is and for good reason:

Minimum wage isn't designed to live off of. Period. It is a starting point, mainly to keep kids from being exploited and paid nothing when they are hired to mop floors and sweep, and clean toilets until they get an education in something productive and move on. It also was never meant to be a wage you stuck to for your entire life. Face it, if you are 50 years old and still making minimum wage and trying to live on it, then you really have made no effort in life to advance in the least. No one can help you, and throwing money at you won't magically make you worth more, or smarter, or more skilled.

I've hired many minimum wage employees over the years and they all have several things in common. The young ones don't do it long and move up, unless they are untrainable and totally unmotivated. The older ones stay there forever, and constantly bitch, whine and complain about how they should be running the place, all the while showing up late, failing piss tests and generally digging their own hole deeper and deeper.

I have no reason to believe that minimum wage needs to be raised anymore than a review of it ever year or two to keep it somewhat current.

Onigger only wants this as many union wage rates are based off the minimum wage.

Minimum wage goes up = more union pork = more forced campaign contributions via union dues.

Its the most corrupt thing going right now.

This is niggernomics 101 this combined with Oniggercare will end full time employment for front line entry level workers in small business. The reality is that many businesses CAN'T just pass this increase along to their customers as their customers won't pay more. I work for a decent sized family owned small business employing around 2500 employees in multiple states. Those of us in management have already seen what the financial impact of Onigger care will be on out business. We can't raise our prices because we won't be able to compete with the smaller companies with less over head and those with less than 50 employees who aren't going to be forced into Oniggercare so our option is going to be cutting hours and pay plans especially for entry level employees if our dipshit president raises the minimum wage to $9.00/hr we will have to cut back even further in order just to remain in business.

On top of that the reality is even if they raise minimum wage the cost of goods and services will eventually increase to keep pace with the wage increase so a year from now those earning minimum wage will be in the exact same boat they are in now.

A most excellent idea. Price or wage regulations don't work; the free market will always re-assert itself.

Several years ago, a plan was proposed to renovate an old armory building in the Bronx, NYC and turn it into an ice rink. The foolish boro president insisted that all the workers be paid a "living" wage of $10 or $11 per hour. It would have created hundreds of much needed jobs. To make a long story short, because of that the project was scrapped, and nobody was hired to do anything!

But these crazy liberals never learn...

You know why there's a minimum wage? Because it's been decided that some new workers might not even be worth that much!

Hiring a new employee often comes at a substantial initial loss for any business; what with on-the-job training, wages/salaries of those that are training them in lieu of their other duties, the cost of "new guy" fuck ups, etc. These resources - or the loss of them - cost money, potentially thousands of dollars just to put a single temp through training. And I'll be blunt, the great majority of would-be employees in my area don't deserve much of anything. Did I forget to mention that I live in a niggerfucked area?

There will be MAJOR setbacks, no matter what. Up and coming small businesses - the ones that struggle just to pay overhead costs - can fucking forget about it. Game over. To compensate for the wage increase, there will obviously be a decrease in there somewhere. What does that mean, exactly? It means having to either completely cut off new potential workers and/or terminate employees that have already proven themselves just to take the dismal chance that a new worker may in some way turn out to be better than the old one.

TL;DR version: Both ends get fucked.

Default So Much LOSE for Americans.

As a believer that Government needs to stay out of private industry in general, this MW will just be yet another job killer. Ms. Jones just got word that her company is getting a 20% rate increase in the health insurance policy they buy privately. The carrier stated "increased costs" of healthcare in general and the burden of forced added coverage under the Patient Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

Government knows that most employers will be obligated to pass the bulk of increased Healthcare costs to the employee, who, at current wage rates, can barely afford the amount they currently pay no less the increase. This is a major factor in raising the MW. So employees can more easily absorb these costs. They still will not come out ahead.

This Country already faces a problem from foreign countries where labor is so cheap American's cannot compete. Now you plan on putting larger financial burden's on our companies, who will of course have no choice but to raise prices, thus becoming even more noncompetitive. Companies will fold. More people will lose jobs than those that will benefit from a "living" wage.

A small nugget; Stryker, a very large manufacturer of hospital beds, orthopedic devices (ie-Hip Replacement Kits), and a bunch of other healthcare devices, has announced the layoff of at least 2000 jobs to cover Obamacare's added costs (And the owner of the Company is a huge supporter of Obama-Go figure ). A little known fact of Obamacare is that the Government is now TAXING these devices at a rate of 2.5-3.5% depending on the product. It will the responsibility of the maker to pay the tax. As a result, these "taxes" will be passed onto the purchaser in terms of the added cost to produce, then the hospital/healthcare provider will then pass that cost back to the insurance company, who then increases premiums.

Obamacare puts Madoff to shame. This is a Ponzi scheme on the trillions of dollars level. And Americans are going to pay for it all. Dearly.
