These aliens generated a 300,000 foot high by a few mile wide "force field". Yet their ships were easily destroyed by standard missiles? I am sure Scotty could have raised some shields for them.

I'm glad I did not see this movie. I hope Liam Neeson made a boat load of cash for this crap. I like that guys movies. In case you guys wondered the USS Massachusetts (Battleship) is anchored in Fall River, MA and has a full compliment of 16" shells--(just kidding).

While we are on the topic of invasion movies, I'll toss in my on Battle Los Angeles. It was a ok movie, the characters the usual mix of angst and anger. I tend to look at these movies from a purely military point of view and it had some accurate parts by and large it was pure bubble gum and pop corn. Decent enough if you get it for free or pay 3 bucks in the bargain bin.

District 9 was great because it showed us how SA became after YT left and general TNB.

I really liked BLA. Physics, well, lots of movies sacrifice a bit of realism for action sequences. Still, I found its desperate urban battles more plausible than a bunch of pilots, led by the POTUS, hopping into fighters to take on a giant UFO, whose shields were taken down by the stereotypically nutty Jewish scientist. A scientist who just happened to figure out, in a few hours, a compatible transmission protocol and how to introduce malware into an advanced mainframe more vulnerable than old Windows versions were to WinNuke.

I do like that movie. I'm a member of a scambaiting forum, and laughed out loud at the depiction of Nigerians as superstitious, disgusting, blood thirsty savages who even scam the aliens.

Outside of that, the rest of it was very good, if disturbing in parts.
