Jeremia Mwanje, a security guard in one of the companies in town, returned to his house and set it ablaze, reducing his eight-year-old girl and son, 10, to ashes.
Ms Josephine Vienda said she heard people making a lot of noise from outside and
she went out to check if it was a robber nabbed, only to find people trying to put off a huge flame of fire.
She said they attempted to contain the fire by pouring water and even called the Kisumu Municipal Council fire fighters
who arrived when the inferno had subsided.
“The fire fighters from the council were turned away by angry residents because
they showed up almost two hours later
, after the flame had been contained,” she said.
He said they could not enter the house because the flame was too much, but
broke the windows where they poured water to put the fire off.
“The man’s charred body was found at the entrance of the door while remains of the two children were on the bed,” he said.
