When my grandpa kills moles, gophers, and other such vermin, he occasionally hangs one from a low branch. When I asked him why he does it, he said "I figure any creature so goddamn useless had to be a nigger in a former life, and hanging a nigger from a tree usually keeps them away." LOL

Since everyone is into goofy relatives and their techniques my crazy cousin in Texas back in the day would brag about how he would trap them live and use them for bait. He would hook them in a way that wouldn't kill them so they could swim around then fish for large mouth bass and gar in the Trinity River, Lake Houston and Lake Livingston areas. The gopher bait part might have been bullshit since he was a notorious bullshitter but I have seen and helped him eat some of his catches when I was a kid and he was known to catch stupidly big bass like 15 and 20 pounders.

My neighbor went away for two weeks right after I killed that little POS; I told him I'd generally keep an eye on his place, and particularly if any more gophers show up I'd take care of it, as they will easily take up residence in my yard as well.

Well, there's going to be some more gopher killing going on 'round here!

So, after 48 hours, didn't get anything. Found a fresh burrow and reset traps about 45 minutes ago. Went out front for a smoke about 15 minutes ago...

Authorities are still looking for the perpetrator of a vicious killing on Tuesday afternoon. Donquivious Washington was the latest victim in the weeks-long siege by a mysterious trapper in the neighborhood, and community leaders are looking for answers. "They took my baby from me. He was just accepted to digging college and was getting his life back together. He din do nuffin," said Donquivious' grandmother, whom had been given custody of her grandson after his mother and father died in a jenkem overdose years earlier.
