I remember reading Capstick about hunting Cape Buffalo. THEY had bone like that, too. Capstick hit a Cape Buff square in the forehead with a .500 Nitro Express...
Result? The bone deflected the big solid and a chunk of the horn boss was blown away.... staggered the Buff and gave him a whalloping headache, but didn't stop him. Capstick ended up sticking the other .500 Nitro Express solid up it's nose... it broke the spine, transversed the animal lengthwise and broke a hip... Buff went down for good.
But it couldn't penetrate that frontal bone...
