The man, whose identity has not been released, was arrested Wednesday about 7:15 p.m. after he beat his 69-year-old mother in the 12800 block of South Morgan Street, police said.

Officers were trying to take the man to court Thursday when he “became combative with officers,” according to a statement from the police department.

Police used a Taser to “gain control of the subject,” who became combative again after he was taken to Roseland hospital, where police again Tasered him, the statement said.
