    Default hypertansport error?

    Hey,

I was doing something very memory and CPU intensive (garrys mod with an ass load of glitchy physics addons) when my computer suddenly shut off and rebooted, first back into the BIOS (MSI 790FX GD70 motherboard w/ Phenom II x4 AMD Black Edition 955 processor). It reported some 'hypertransport sync flood error on boot' and gave me an option to resume.

Windows booted fine, I further researched the error to have come from the north bridge and had something to do, possibly, with voltage not being in sync with clock speed of the bridge. I doubt it was a problem with the memory due to not having noticed any errors with my memory, plus gmod has been acting very odd and crash happy with me lately.

Does anyone thing that this is likely going to be a repeating error or just a one time thing? I do admit that this is the first serious hardware error I have had in nearly two years of owning my computer. I've got almost 10 hours of error free 'uptime' as we speak...

I admit I am fairly savvy with computers, but not enough to be dealing with voltage and odd/large hardware issues :P

    Default Black edition?

No, I'm not gonna fcuk on about this. Probably overclocked then, and some spots on the board overheat under stress esp the bridges even with proper ventilation. Reduce peripheral speed. Good luck.

I've sped up the exhaust fan closest to it as a precaution, but I have not had a single problem in over two days.

I am going to call it a fluke.

The symptoms you're describing appears to be an issue with either overclocking your CPU or a sudden drop/blip in voltage. I'm also running an AMD processor, but its an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T processor. If you're overclocking, you might have to adjust the voltage through the BIOS. Other than this, I can't really help you out much further as I've never personally experienced it and I've built a few PC's in the past using AMD processors. Since I'm running a 6-core processor and I'm not a hard-core gamer, there's really no need to overclock my processor. My water cooling setup does a good enough job of keeping my CPU cool as well. Another thing I think you might want to check out is how you're wiring up the power cables inside your computer case. If you buy a cheap power supply and you share/split the power cable between all your components, that could cause a slight starvation/loss of power at startup, etc... A high-end video card consumes lots of power.
