Dover Man Arrested for Child Rape

DOVER, Del.- A Dover man is behind bars following accusations that he sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl under his care.
Stephen Steele, 43, of East Wind Drive, was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust and second-degree unlawful imprisonment.
Dover police say that on Jan. 20, Steele, who was an employee of the Smyrna-based Universal Transportation Service, was driving the girl from a doctor's appointment. According to police, on the way back from the doctor's office, Steele drove the victim to Country Village Apartments in Dover and sexually assaulted her in one of the apartments.
Steele is being held in the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $210,000 secured bond.
