    Default For contact lens wearers

I made a goof this morning and figured I'd spare fellow chimpers the same fate. When I picked this stuff up at the store it looked OK, and stated it was for storage/rinsing of lenses, but apparently only if you use their "special case". This has happened to others, which made me feel slightly less stupid for making the mistake of putting this in my eye and feeling a searing hot pain this morning when I put my lens in. Try the sensation of getting soap in your eyes x1000.

Thanks for the info, my kid just got contacts last week and I'll be sure not to buy any of that cleaner.

    Hope your eye is ok.

Just last week, I went to buy some TSA sized bottles of saline and saw this. After reading the box I assumed this stuff was similar to AOSEPT which has a red nozzle on the bottle. Does this clear care stuff not have a red nozzle?

Justin, my eye is still red and it has a bit of discomfort so let me tell ya, be really careful reading the labels when buying solution for your kid. I would also recommend that your child have a backup pair of glasses for those times he or she wants to give the eyes a break from the lenses, or when eyes are irritated for some reason. Without my "eyes", I'm like Mr Magoo.

I used the aosept system back in the 1980s, and yeah if you put your contacts in before time it burned like hell. It is interesting that is another Ciba product as they were behind the aosept product. You had to use their solution, a disc that was in the bottom of the tube, a cleaning tab every month, and saline for rinse. By the way, the contacts they tell you to throw away after two weeks are exactly the same as daily wear that are good for a year according to manufacturers literature. I can make a 12 week prescription last for 3 years. You do the math. Bye the way, this is my 2000th post, gibs me dat

That's why I prefer the daily disposable ones. No mess, no hassle, just throw them out when I'm done. Costs the same as buying all the liquids anyway.

God, that's awful. My eyes watered just reading that link.
Kind of makes me think of the time hubby and I bought that K-Y Yours and Mine except it wasn't my eyes that were burning!

Chimps, the same here. I can not read by dim light anymore. However, I think my night vision was just better before, as a side effect of what gave me the near-sightedness in the first place. So now it's just normal for my age, as presbyopia rears its ugly head. Curious as to your age.

Still, it is nice not having to ask my golf buddies, "did you see where that landed?" I have eagle-esque vision during the day.

    My routine:

Wipe the tear ducts free of any residue in the corner of the eyes.
Wash in any the cleaning solution
Then I rinse it under the tap and rub any remaining particles.
Then I use a sterile saline solution on the lens because the PH is suited for my eyes in the morning.
    Insert contact, no issues.
