Charlis Harris, 26, and the victim, 39, had an ongoing feud, according to Chicago police. On Wednesday, police say Harris followed the woman in her car until the woman stopped near 78th and Constance. When the victim got out of her car, Harris approached her and allegedly threw the contents of a bottle into the woman's face. She then pulled out a handgun and fired several shots at the woman. Next, she took a hammer to the victim's car and began smashing it.
The victim was not hit by any bullets but did suffer severe burns to her face and body from the caustic liquid.
Harris is charged with:
Unlawful use of a weapon
Aggravated assault and discharge of a firearm
no valid FOID card
Criminal damage to property
Police say Harris was arrested at a hospital where she sought treatment for burns she received when some of the caustic liquid splashed on her.
