PITTSBURG — After making a clean break from prison in 2001,
Andrew Le'Mar Green steered clear of trouble, but a different part of his past caught up with him Tuesday.
A distraught ex-girlfriend — the mother of Green's child — is suspected of killing the 31-year-old next to his Pittsburg marina home.
Jennell Wright, 34, of Vallejo, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of murder after Green was found shot to death that morning, police said. Wright was tracked to the Mar Ray Hotel in the 1900 block of Railroad Avenue, where she apparently tried to kill herself by ingesting psychiatric drugs — she suffers from depression, police say — and antifreeze.
At the motel, where she aroused suspicion by refusing to check out, police found a gun and bullets inside her purse matching those that killed Green and ones left at the slaying scene, Lt. Brian Addington said. Wright was taken to the hospital when her condition worsened, but she is expected to survive.
