Back in the 80's I was attending a private Catholic school in the small town of Gastonia, NC. (Just outside Charlotte.) As part of a field trip, the school paid for us to rent a trailways bus and head south to Charleston SC to see the Yorktown and explore the city. At the time my feelings on niggers were pretty well known, and though we only had one ape (a sow) in the class, the fact was I had made it quite clear that she was not only not welcome; but I wanted ZERO to do with her and her kind. The Nuns didn't exactly condone my attitude, but they seemed to at the very least understand it, so I didn't get in trouble that often, but I digress.

When we got to Charleston, the various tours took place and then we were taken down to the city market area and allowed to wander around in groups of twos or threes. I and my then girlfriend took to the market together. She dressed in those cute school girl outfits and drawing EVERYONE's eyes, and I in my slacks and tie loving every minute of it. (can you blame me? I mean really?) We made a simple circuit of the market before she zeroed in on some beautiful hand carved artwork from Israel. That artwork happened to be right next to a Nigger's stall where the ape was selling these cheap little leather things that had "africa" on them. (the country, not the word.) Dressed in those weird pajama like wraps, this ape was pitching these things to everyone that came by, to no success. The buck was getting agitated to say the least, but when my girl and I approached, my hackles instantly rose. This ape was staring at her, watching as she picked through the other stall's art before setting on a pair of praying hands from the holy land. Seeing her pay cash without haggling for the price, he circled in for the kill...or more likely, the rape and muh dik.

Slipping between us, he put his greasy paws on her and tried to draw the girl over to his stall, ooking in that half ass monkey language that she look like an "Egyptian Beauty" and dat niggers be Egyptians and such, so she needed ta show her pride and wear one of his shitty Africa necklaces. She shook off his hand and I stepped forward telling the ape that she didn't want any of his crap. More so if it was really from africa, why did all his crap say "Made in Taiwan" on it? The ape bristled and started to curse, even going so far as to throw shit (figuratively speaking) from his table at us. We took off running only to run head long into this other older buck whose accent was far worse. Now, like I said, I hate niggers; and I figured I was jumping from in the pan into the fire here, but this older ape just kinda tucked us behind his back and started yelling at the other monkey in some god awful language. I don't know WHAT he said, but the younger buck just hung his head and started to pack up his stuff and leave. The older one watched to make sure he was gone before telling us that we probably should head back to our tour bus, as that other buck would still be looking for us. Before we left, he gave each of us this tiny vial of some oil that I didn't quite know what it was, but I kept.

Back on the bus, relating our story, one of the nuns asked to see the oil. We handed it over and she looked at it for a long time before handing the vials back. "He must have thought highly of you." She said. When asked why, she explained "That's perfume oil. Pretty expensive stuff to be honest, maybe ten dollars for a bottle half that size."

Years later I found out from a friend who lived in Charleston around that time, that it was a common tactic of local bucks to buy trinkets and crap from novelty stores and then turn around and sell them for ten times what they paid at the market. What's more, there were NUMEROUS accounts of these same bucks using the market as a way to scope out potential robberies and rapes. Those few vendors who actually were there legally had been calling for the city to do something about it, but Charleston PD wasn't willing to do jack shit for some reason. He emailed this incident to me, and after figuring out just what he was explaining, I found myself giggling madly at it. (There will be cliff notes at the end.)


His story:

Was working the run to Putney Bridge the other day and had one of those things drivers never want. We call it a "one under" though you might call them "darwin awards." There had been some talk on the radio about a nutter throwing stones along the line at passing trains, but no one could get a good look at him. Best they came up with was some darkie in a hood and slouching jeans. Guess we have you to thank for that damn style, or at least your own darkies. Whatever the case I had just pulled out of the platform and pushed up to track speed, when I see this nutter. He's standing there in the middle of the tracks one leg on either side of the fourth rail with what looked to be a block of concrete in his hands. I blow down and go into emergency, just in time to see him give a might heave of that block. Probably flew all of three feet before it came crashing down.

I don't know what was going through his mind then, probably not much knowing how darkies are, but something registered that the train was NOT stopping. We'd had some rain, so the rails were slick and it meant sliding happened. Overshot two stations earlier in the shift from it. So here this darkie was, my train barreling down on him and it dawns on him that he's in a bad place, and he turns to run. Big mistake. Well, not as much as standing ON the tracks, but as he turned his pants went about his ankles and rather than duck walk off the track like that, he bent over to pick them up. Last thing I saw as he went under was this ashy darkie's ass just as the coupling smacked it and then the sickening bumping when the center shoe snagged him and started dragging him down the center rail.

I get on the tannoy, tell the passengers to sit tight that we've had a mechanical problem and then turn and call dispatch with the issue. They send out the police and rescue to get this guy, but let's face it, he was dead. Had to be right? I dismount to check the damage, and dear god I can hear this darkie under the train moaning. This low moan, like a cat dying. Here he was, pinned under the running gear, dragged along the rail a good thirty meters or so, and the darkie is still alive. Damn things are like roaches I suppose. Rescue got there, and works with some jacks to lift the car to get him out, while the passengers had to sit and wait. Thankfully he quit moaning after a while, so the rescue became a recovery. My passengers were transferred to buses for the rest of their journey, while I was given a mandatory leave of absence to deal with the "trauma." What trauma? I took a moron out of the gene pool.

Still, I don't think I'll ever get the picture of that bare ass out of my head just as the coupling kissed it. I suspect my leave had something to do with that. It still sends me into fits of giggles.
