MOUNT DORA, Fla. -- Channel 9 tracked down a man who allegedly claimed he was Jesus while threatening to kill his own family. Channel 9's Andrea Conklin found the suspect in Mount Dora and turned him into deputies and they arrested him Friday afternoon.
"Were you claiming you were Jesus?" Conklin asked 24-year-old Venel Piervil.
"It's possible," he said.
Piervil repeatedly suggested to Conklin that he is Jesus and made demands that the world be turned over to him. He remained eerily calm the whole time, even as deputies arrested him.
Sheriff's deputies said Piervil, armed with a machete and a knife, held his 13- and 7-year-old sisters against their will inside the Heather Street home (see map) they all share with their mother. Investigators said he forced his sisters to recite the Lord's Prayer and told the 13-year-old he would kill her if she didn't write it down within seven minutes.
