GAINESVILLE –nigger Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes will be suspended by Coach Urban Meyer for the first half of Saturday's game against Vanderbilt, Meyer said Monday afternoon.
Spikes stuck his paw inside the helmet of Georgia running back Washaun Ealey on Saturday and appeared to attempt an eye gouging inside a pile on a running play. The Southeastern Conference expects to review the play today, according to SEC spokesman Charles Bloom. Meyer said he spoke to SEC Commissioner Mike Slive about the play.
"I don't condone that," Meyer said. "I understand what goes on in football, but there's no place for that. We're going to suspend Brandon for the first half of the Vanderbilt game. I spoke to Brandon. That's not who he is. That's not who we are. He got caught up in emotion. I love Brandon Spikes."
Meyer said Spikes has the program's full support despite his actions.
Florida quarterback Tim Tebow said he hasn't seen the play on tape.
Spikes appeared to be retaliating after Georgia players pulled off his helmet on two occasions in Florida's 41-17 win in Jacksonville.
Said Tebow of the incident: "We didn't do anything that they didn't do."
