Now, he's facing felony charges after an arrest Thursday night.
Fox 29's Steve Keeley reported that officers in the 35th District, which made the arrest, reported Christmas has posted bail and should be released Friday morning.
Not only was the car Christmas was driving registered and owned by current Sixer forward/center Marreese Speights, but so is the loaded handgun that was found by police right under the driver's seat.
Christmas was a top player for Temple University for four years but was not picked in the NBA draft. The 6-foot-5-inch player did get an invitation to the Sixers' camp, where he was just cut Wednesday.
Police said around 7:30 p.m. Thursday night officers spotted Christmas driving erratically on Broad Street, and Speights' car's windows are darkly tinted. The car was stopped, and Christmas was arrested when police found the gun and then learned he doesn't even have a driver's license.
He's being charged with a felony for the gun, although a lawyer will likely argue that Christmas never even knew the weapon was under the seat.
