Any other Zep fans here? Jimmy Page is one of my guitar heroes. Underrated as hell.:rock:rock:rock

When I was a kid I BEGGED my mom to take me to see "The Song Remains The Same" in the theater. She went with me to see it. After it was over she said, "That had to have been the worst band I have ever seen! They were playing as if they were all drunk." I dismissed her critique as being part a generation gap thing.

Decades go by and I found the movie on VHS. I bought it to relive part of my youth. And you know something? My mother was right. They were sloppy as all hell the whole night.

I didn't say I didn't like it. I still enjoy watching that movie from time to time. And I still have all of my original LPs. I'd rather hear them play on their WORST day then I would anyone like Plain White Tees on their best.

You're right about TSRTS, PR...pretty poor performance considering it was for posterity. I have seen zep performances (recorded, sadly) that were extremely tight and Robert's voice right on--point being they were very good live.
Zep was such an excellent band, all incredible musicians in their own right; and most songs were uplifting and inspirational-pretty much the opposite of coon tune subject matter.

My all time favorite band.

True, Song Remains the Same was bad. Now, if you listen to "how the west was won" I think that's a pretty damn good live album of theirs. Page is an unbelievable lead guitar player - the guy really knows how to scratch the auditory itch so to speak; he can do it all, acoustic, electric, blues, country, celtic, folk and even some jazz. One of my top 3 favorite guitar guys of all time. He is probably the best combination of a no-shit lead guitar player, producer and song writer I've ever heard. A lot of folks like Clapton or Beck but Page was always my favorite of those 3. So many great fucking rock songs - neither the beatles, the who, or the Stones (whom I all dearly love) had the musical range & combination of a singer, guitarist, bass player and drummer that Zep did (though Keith Moon & john entwistle came damn close).
