How many of you remember watching this? The old 1960s series really has a lot of great episodes. My favorite episode is probably The Hitch-Hiker, but it's very hard to decide. You can watch a lot of episodes here on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/ebonyandwhite

I never miss that New Year's Marathon!!
My favorites: "The Bewitchin' Pool" w/ Aunt Tee and those two children; any Billy Mumy episode (especially 'It's a Good Life'), and that one where that hillbilly is trying to get into heaven w/his coon dog, Blue.
Gosh, what a great series!! Rod Serling was far ahead of his time.

Twilight Zone, you bet. And it was nearly all white, of course. A few niggers here and there, but not many. High quality shows are almost always white. I still keep an eye out for Twilight Zone reruns.
I'm not sure but we've entered the Twilight Zone since those days. Can't you hear Rod Serling now: "The year, 2008. A nigger is running for president. Welcome to the Twilight Zone."

"It's A Good Life" is one of the best episodes. They did some terrible sequel for the short-lived 2002 new series. The 1980s series had some decent episodes from what I've seen, but nothing beats the original.

I always liked the one with Cliff Robertson--think it was called "One Hundred Yards Over the Rim." And even though it was hopelessly sappy, the one with Art Carney as the bum who gets to be Santa Claus.

Cliff Robertson also played the nightclub entertainer who was a washed up ventriloquist. That doll/dummy scared the you-know-what out of me the first time I ever saw it; to this day I can't stand those dolls.

Oh yeah, that doll changed places with him. Think it was called Fatso. I remember an old Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode where this chick fell in love with a ventriloquist. Turned out the doll was really a midget and the ventriloquist was really the dummy. Creepy as hell.

Not everyone can access the site, but www.fancast.com has quite a few twilight zone episodes online, as well as the first season of Night Gallery. And it's legal.

Night Gallery!! I loved that series as well, except for those "Sixth Sense" episodes. I remember hearing once that Rod Serling was given very little creative leeway in that series; the producers apparently wanted his name and presence. He did write scripts and episodes for it as well.

Yeah, he had sort of a handshake agreement that he'd have some creative control, but that quickly vanished. It still had some really good episodes though, they did a few Lovecraft adaptions I think, but I haven't seen them.

Loved the Twilight Zone, my fav would have to be the gremlin tearing the plane's wing apart while Bill Shatner went bananas watching him.

Shatner was also great in the episode with the fortune telling machine. I think Richard Matheson scripted both episodes if I'm not mistaken.

This is a pretty cool book if you're interested in some behind the scenes stuff. Also has a pretty cool episode guide.

Very good series. Still better than most things on T.V today. Excellent writing, directing, acting. It would be hard to pick out a favorite episode but the Burgess Meredith episode comes to mind. Irony at its greatest.

I liked the Jack Klugman one with the one armed bandit chasing him around calling his name "Frrrannnkklllinnnnn" until he falls to his death.
My favorite is the episode that I think is called "Time Enough at Last" in which the mousey guy who can never find enough time or peace to read survives a bomb attack. he then survives and finds food, water and all the books he could read for years. He sits down to enjoy and crack his glasses gets broke. To me that is the epitome of "tragic".
My amazement is that those episodes are 40+ years ago and they still exemplify the human condition. I guess all well written stories or movies/shows do that. Long live talent and imagination.

"Time Enough At Last" was one that is memorable. Not sure if anyone has seen the one called "The Lonely". It's about this guy in the future that is sent to serve a prison sentence on an asteroid, by himself.
That series definitely stood the test of time.
