Off-duty NOPD officer (negro) threatened woman (also a negro) and pulled a gun, witnesses say

Kiyana Howell didn't know why there was a nonstop horn blaring while she sat pulled over to pick up five children, ages 5 to 15, at the Treme Community Center. Until she saw, and heard, a woman in a dark colored jeep.

I jumped out of my truck and said, ‘Don't you see I'm picking up my children.' So she says, 'Move,'" Howell told Eyewitness News Thursday.

The children had just wrapped up a full day of summer camp. They piled into Howell's SUV. She says before she could drive away, the woman pulled up to her bumper.

Police say that woman was off-duty NOPD officer Ashley Terry.

Witnesses said that's when the Terry started waiving a gun. Some say she even pointed it toward Howell's SUV.

Howell says the two had a heated argument, but when Howell left, Terry followed her, blocked her at a stop sign and threatened her.

NOPD suspends another officer involved in Treme incident

Another New Orleans Police officer has been suspended following an altercation in front of the Treme Community Center.

Video: Watch the Story An investigation conducted by the Public Integrity Bureau reveals Officer David Ellis "may not have" taken the appropriate action when he arrived on the scene Tuesday afternoon, Officer Bob Young said in a statement.

Officer Ellis was one of the police officers called to the center after reports of an off-duty officer waiving her weapon in the presence of children and adults during an altercation.
