Tony Burgess's "A Clockwork Orange" is really good. The movie did a real good job of sticking to the text. Little Alex narration was almost word for word. There is even a little dictionary at the end of the book that sheds lite on some of the language.

Most stuff from the Britsh iles has to have subtitles or refrences, the movie acid house is another example of this, good to hear they stayed true to the book

Loved both the book and movie. Too bad the "ultraviolence" is being done by niggers and instead of moloko it's jenkem.

Clockwork orange is an excellent story. The "nadsat" slang spoken is actually Russian.

I tried to read this many years ago, but was thrown off by the (nasdat/slang) language (same thing with 'Trainspotting'). Now that I'm a bit older and more patient, perhaps I give it another run one of these days.

On another note, damn good movie. :)

Yes, the subtext is that the UK has become a run-down, communist slum, either controlled or strongly influenced by the Soviet Union.

Well God bless you for slogging through that SST! I tried to get through it and gave up. It just wasn't enjoyable to stop and look up every other word in the glossary.
