CHICAGO - The American Medical Association on Thursday issued a formal apology for more than a century of discriminatory policies that excluded blacks from participating in a group long considered the voice of U.S. doctors.

The apology stems from initiatives at the nation's largest doctors' group to reduce racial disparities in medicine — from the paltry number of black physicians to the disproportionate burden of disease among blacks and other minorities.

It comes more than 40 years after AMA delegates denounced policies at state and local medical societies dating to the 1800s that barred blacks.


He said there’s evidence that black patients fare better when treated by black doctors, so these policies could have contributed to poor health care for blacks.

I received a military physical a few week ago and what I found was that almost all of the doctors and nurses on base were black (75%). So blacks aren't that dumb right? Not quite.

The menial tasks such as blood work and filling out forms were done by the blacks, the actual medical examinations were all done by whites. Some of the black nurses were actually listening to rap music while doing their work. They have no respect or professionalism. The black 'doctors' are the product of affirmative action. The medical community knows this, so they create easy jobs for the blacks to do that aren't critical to the health of the whites.

Government work is where most medical school graduates go when they can't find anyone to hire them in the private sector. Scary thought. I'm putting serious thought into not joining if my health could be placed in the hands of a black.

My long time family doctor just groans when he hears A.A. and doctors in the same sentence. He is a very decent sort, but reading between the lines talking to him you can tell he is not too happy about nig docs.
