I had a Sweet "greatest hits" or "best of" compilation on vinyl a long time ago. The progression in their songwriting style was atypical, to say the least. From what I understand, they recorded a lot of "bubblegum" a-sides, and wrote much heavier b-sides. "Love is Like Oxygen" is a pretty gay song, but I still like it.

It's funny...a lot of 70's "bubblegum" makes a lot of today's so called hardcore 'rockers' look like a bunch of whiny queers :lol
These guys could write, play and sing like hell...and do it LIVE!

How many of the original band members are still alive? I think Brian Connolly died, as did Mick Tucker.

Boy, this brings back memories....*sigh*

Hahahahahahahhaaha, Derek Smalls must have left "Love is Like Oxygen" off of his resume for some reason. Didn't know he could play guitar as well as bass.

:lol yeah, nice beard eh? One more of my faves...Healer

I used to run in to Steve Priest every once in a while.

There was a whole stable of bands at RAK in England.

Sweet, Smokie, Mud, Suzie Quatro.....

All these bands that did Chinn and Chapman songs.

Bubblegum for sure. But still good.

Boo!!

I had a crush on Steve Priest; he gained a lot of weight the last time I saw him being interviewed.

Weren't these guys all the rage in Germany?
