at midnite i went out and put on the christmas lights, turned on everything but the bedroom lights, i did that after everyone was up, as well as turning on all the puters, tv's, radios etc.,
then i just came back from driving aimlessly all over southern delaware leaving a large carbon footprint with
my gas guzzling suv.
i am really quite proud of myself. good day so far..............................

That's awesome. I would urge everyone else who sees this to do the same. Turn on everything and recycle nothing (if you recycled anyway).
Just now I turned on every light I can, and the TV is going even though I'm not even watching it.
The computers were easy to take care of, since I run them 24/7 anyway. I suppose I could leave the monitor on (it's a CRT; uses more power) too.
Red, great job!

What was the point? To make yourself spend more money? Conserving energy and doing what you can for the environment is a positive thing. I guess if you feel that turning on all your lights is going to get back at the greenies, then more power to you. It'll just show up on your utility bill.

What was the point?
Sending a message.
Since the enviro-nazis say that Earth Day is supposed to be about conserving energy/reducing carbon footprint, that's why some do the opposite just for the day.

Fuckin tree huggers if you never had the pleasure of dealing with them you wouldnt understand.
I drove my truck that gets 9 miles to the gallon had a fire out back .
But hey there is a salamander or bug that kept a couple thousand jobs from happening
but the bug is happy.
Dirt worshiper people are weird .

I hate the tree hugging hippie bullcrap that is earthday. If I'm going to conserve, it's because it saves me $$$, not because I wanna hug a tree. And now that the gov't is looking to tax the very air we exhale (http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_022609/content/01125109.guest.html), I've decided to stick to common sense rather than what the greenies suggest. For example: I'm going to keep buying regular light bulbs because they're cheap, made in the USA and do not contain hazards such as mercury, unlike the "green" lightbulbs which are made in China and are so hazardous that if you break one, you practically have to call in the EPA to clean it up.

My Earth Day tradition is to cut down a tree every April 22 and buck it into firewood which I'll burn later in my woodstove...producing lots of smoke.
Here's this year's victim, a white alder: :chain

It has been warm here lately but this afternoon he weather cooled off and it's now 56 degrees & breezy...so I fired up the woodstove with some dry wood cut a year ago.

I drove aimlessly in my Hummer, contemplating what I could do to celebrate this day. Then I stopped and cleaned out the car, using nature as my garbage can. (it all breaks down in a gagillion years, right?) Then, back in my Hummer, I filled up with more gas, drove some more, then I hit a deer.
Earth Day complete, I went home to prepare for next year.

Well last night I had my oil-filled electric radiators going, as the nights are still very cool here. Normally I would just turn them all off as the day progressed, but instead I decided to fire up all the air conditioners because it was getting so hot. After awhile the a/c overpowered the heaters so I decided to open all the windows for some warmth. When I went to the window I saw my SUV just sitting there and decided to start it up. I had nowhere to go so I left it running and came back into the house.
After an hour or so, I began to worry that the car would run out of gas, and decided to drive to the gas station, about 30 miles away. I checked to make sure that the heaters and air conditioners were still going full blast, and that the windows were still open, and then I grabbed all of my recyclables and put them in the car so I could dump them in the stream on my way back.
I don't have any kids and the niggers are taking over everything anyway, so why should I give a shit anymore?
Obviously I didn't do any of that due to the cost involved (I'm not rich) plus I really do care about the environment. But the way this country is going I'm starting to care less and less about a lot of things.
