I just got the Acoustica Mixing Program (http://acoustica.com/mixcraft/), and so far it seems killer for my limited abilities. But!!! I ran a rythym track through it fine, but when I went back to put lead (guitar) over that, there was a 1 sec. delay between what I was playing and then hearing!

I plugged my guitar straight into the mic jack of the pc.

WTF am I missing? If anyone can help, I would sure appreciate it.

I have an old Tascam 4 Track, but I'm tired of the old cassette shit, and need to get caught up with this century! :lol

Once again, if anyone has any tips, then :yrck !!!!

You should be able to shift the time of the rhythm track to compensate for the lag with the guitar track. At least for playback. Can you bypass guitar DSP while playing live and they add your effects later? It sounds like the lage is due to the time it takes the program (and your computer) to process the analog signal.
Do you notice hard drive activity when playing?
Try looking on their forums (http://demon.acoustica.com/bbs/viewforum.php?f=4) for an answer as well.
My suggestions above are pretty generic and could apply to many mixing apps and there may be a toggle somewhere in the program that might fix your problem.

I would suggest using the line in rather than the mic input dude, that may effect it.
