Two teens were arrested Monday after they got into an argument with a Department of Motor Vehicles employee and then attacked him outside the department's East Garden City office, where one of the suspects slashed the worker's face with a razor knife, Nassau police said.
Jashamel Turner, 17, of 107 Terrace Ave., Apt. 2A, and Tiara Henry, 18, of 65 Stewart Ave., both of Hempstead, were inside the Department of Motor Vehicles office at 801 Axinn Avenue, East Garden City, at 11:20 a.m. when they got into a verbal confrontation with a 25-year-old male employee, the police said.
The confrontation continued outside the building and escalated when Henry threw an empty soda bottle at the victim's head, and Turner slashed the victim across his nose and side of his head with a razor knife, police said. Both Turner and Henry also punched the victim, the police said.
They ran away but were arrested by Third Precinct police officers nearby on Zeckendorf Boulevard, and the officers also recovered the razor knife, police said.
The victim was taken to Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola for treatment of slash wounds to the head and face.
Turner and Henry were charged with assault and Turner was also charged with weapons possession. They were scheduled for arraignment in First District Court, Hempstead.
