Just found out Disturbed has a new album out. It's nice to see a good band at #1. I haven't heard the album yet but given their past history, I highly doubt it is going to suck. Going to download it right now.:rock

I really love Disturbed, which mystifies some of my comrades because David Drayman is jewish. Fuck it- the band is great and the guy can sing his ass off. Ten Thousand Fists was a great album. Hopefully this next one will be even better.

Ya, the Land of Confusion remake rocks, big time. It's very rare that a remake is better than the original.
Odin, if it's any consolation, his old man was an orthodox Jew and he disowned him for singing metal. David wants nothing to do with that religion. I read an interview with him and he is one cool ass motherfucker. Only saw them twice and both times were disasters because of the psycho chick I was with.
After hearing this new album a few times now, it's ok but not as good as their others. Top notch guitar but something about it just didn't do it for me.
In my opinion the best Disturbed albums in order are::
Believe(kicks ass!)
The Sickness (Damn Good Songs on This One)
Ten Thousand Fists (More Good Tunes on This Album)
Indestructible (Still Checking it Out)

One of the fellows in Disturbed stepdaughter went to school with my daughter. He was very active in doing volunteer work at the school as was I. I knew he was a musician because I had seen all the instruments at his house, but in that hood about every other person is a musician, artist, or writer. I had known him for about a year before I found out what band he played in. I had heard the name Disturbed, but had no idea how popular they were. Anyway he is a hell of a nice guy, actually somewhat soft spoken, and a pretty damn good roller skater. I am glad to see them on top of the charts!

I used to read Metal Hammer all the time. I also used to read Metal Maniacs all the time back in the day but I think they are more into the Death Metal scene nowadays. There is very little Death metal I can get into but Sepultura's Arise from 1990 is really good.
Actually the new Disturbed album is growing on me. It seems to get better every time I hear it. I guess some or most of the songs on the album are about his ex g/f's suicide. The song Into the Fire is about the devil talking to him when he found her dead body. It kinda gives the album a whole new feel after learning that. Disturbed is way talented.
I tried to find the vid on youtube with the lyrics but I think it's gone.

I just listened to the entire album. As a group I think they have grown as artists and have definitely found the right "sound". Does anyone else feel this way- that the guitarist has really come into his own and on several tracks I got the impression of Kirk Hammet-style riffs. Did anyone else pick up on this? There is without a doubt Metallica-influenced chord progressions on several tracks. I mean old-school Metallica- And Justice For All, Ride The Lightening, etc... The sound is unmistakeable. I have been playing for about 10 years and I have nearly perfect pitch and one hell of a "feel" for these things. The guitarist has definitely been practicing and arranging his chord progressions after Kirk Hammet's early stuff. I would bet my balls on it. Their new style is perfect and compliments their musical talents perfectly.
Metallica is not the "greatest metal band in history" but the old stuff is the definition of metal and Kirk Hammet, in my opinion, is up there with Vai, Malmsteen, Vaughn, Satriani, Fruscanti, etc..... Hell I myself was inspired to learn how to play because of Hammet's legendary riffs on the first 4 Metallica albums. They are all not in the same 'catagory" of style, but definitely all on the same level of talent. When I listened to the first several tracks of the new Disturbed record, the very first thing I thought was "This is exactly like Kirk Hammet.... and it kicks ass!"
Between David's singing abilities and lyrics, along with the guitarist's new style, Disturbed will probably be one of the most well-remembered bands of the early 21st century. Just my opinion.

Ya, I think anyone who is into guitar at all or metal, at some point was influenced by Kirk Hammet. He is so talented, not many can play his toughest riffs and solos. Just try to do the solo on Damage Inc. on Mater of Puppets. Fucking impossible. There is just no way. An average guitar player will only get so good. In the late 80's/early 90's I got a copy of Cliff Em All (concert video of them before Jason came along)and would play it slow mo and tried to teach myself that way.
Disturbed has a style and sound that is very unique and will for sure go down in history. Them and Tool of course, among others. Not only does a good guitar and beat have to be there but the lyrics need to be genius as well.
I have to admit though, when I first heard Disturbed in the late 90's I hated them because of the song Stupify where he goes "all the people in the projects rock."
No they don't. For whatever reason, I never gave them a chance for a couple years after that, but after hearing the album Believe, I came around.

I don't mean to hijack the Music thread but there seems like we might have some metal fans on here............ I can not stress enough how good of an album this is........everyone has different tastes but for any true metal fans that haven't heard a kick ass album in forever, check the new disturbed out.:rock
It took me a good 30 listens to get into it, a sign of a good album. Lyrics here:
