Websites could get cinema-style age ratings to tackle offensive online activity

Offensive or indecent websites will be branded with cinema-style age certificates in a Government crackdown on dangerous online activity.

In a bid to limit the ease to which 'unacceptable' material is accessed, Culture Secretary Andy Burnham, last night called for 'clearer standards' in cyber space.

He said it was his 'absolutely categorical' view that there was material on the web - including beheadings - which should not be available to anyone.

Plans are also underway to discuss new policing methods for English language websites with the President-elect Barack Obama.

What planet are some people living on? Police the web? They may as well spend their time nailing water to the ceiling. There are already standards for marking web sites, but nobody bothers using them and why should they? This site would no doubt receive the strictest of rating, while some other "I hate YT" site would be ignored - it be raycis 'n sheet to censor them.

Andy Burnham should find some actual work, given that his country is flying down the shitter. Nothing pisses a government off more than people being able to speak their minds.
