What's a Mac? A PC with a very restricted range of hardware, that is almost impossible to upgrade and runs on a customised version of a free operating system. All this, for three or four times the price of a normal PC. ;)

You ask me, bring back the Commodore Amiga. Now, there was a computer...

...osx with no hiccups.
Lovely O/S, no doubt. Really nice touches, like being able to move a file that is still being copied.

I'm told that a new Amiga OS is not only in the works, but will be released in the spring, alongside with Duke Nukem Forever

So, it's never going to arrive then? :D

I use both. Mac for music production and recording. PC for nearly everything else.

Boo! :cff

Yeah, it sucks running a nearly flawless os and not having to worry about viruses and spyware.:face

I'm only a casual computer user, using it to lurk forums and talk on AIM, as well as for some music production and graphics creation. I've owned probably 8 PCs since my family got one back in '95. I got my first Mac about 8 months ago. So far the Mac has had no problems. It runs just as good as the day I got it. Almost every single PC I had would begin to crap out at the 4 month mark, then would have to get cleaned up or have virus software run or it would have an assload of spyware or whatever.

My last laptop ran on Windows and the harddrive died three times. I had it for 4 years, and towards the end it was unusable. The actual laptop fell apart, the battery stopped charging, and it would take 10-15 minutes to start up. If I had a program like AIM open, it would slow down my computer enough that any other program would barely work. No thanks. My new Mac runs better than most PCs I've used that are the same age.

Again, I don't know much about computers, but I've had the worst luck with PCs, yet every single Mac I've ever used has been great, no matter how old it was.

You'll get the same thing running FreeBSD on an ordinary PC.

...FreeBSD code has been running on Macintosh architectures since Darwin -- the OSS kernel of Mac OS X -- was released.

Won't argue with you about how bad Windows is, though. Terrible OS, but good for games.

I didn't know a whole lot about computers until I went back to school. The first classes I took were an IT class and a graphics class. For the IT class we used the pc labs running xp. For the graphics classes we had a mac lab running panther. Xp wasn't bad to learn on, but with so many students using the labs we had to save everything constantly. I never once had a mac crash on me. Since I learned on both, I was more partial to the mac os. It just seemed to run smoother and was aesthetically pleasing. After a year or so Dell gave the school a better service deal, so they switched out the mac lab. A lot of people were pissed. The new PC's couldn't seem to run the Adobe suite as flawlessly as the macs. Ever since then I have bought macs. I don't mind xp at all, just before I graduated, the school "upgraded" to vista and the problems got worse.

One thing PC users can do that Mac users can't (http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=macs_cant)

The I-Phone sucks. (http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=iphone)

I couldn't have put it better myself.
Macs are for snobs who think they're better for not using windows.
All you can do with Macs is edit videos and photos better.
Use Linux if you don't want to use Windows.
Amiga?
Nah you want the old Acorn Archimedes computers!

You're fucking retarded.

Nice machine, and that 32-bit RISC architecture was years ahead of the rest. Stood no chance against the Amiga, though - weight of numbers. Remember however, that the Amiga had a true multi-tasking operating system years before that crappy Windows.

Bit nasty. The general perception is that people buy Macs for the image. I know from your previous comments that you didn't, but that is how it is seen. If you're happy with your choice, fuck it. Who cares? :)

Ever since I bought my MacBook, girls look at me like I'm a superstar! :timmay

I also feel the MacBook and Ipod have really changed my outlook on life and I think I'm much better off now.

*Just kidding, but it seems like that's how Mac owners think. I do have a Mac and it's really less than impressive considering the price.
