Had to take my custom desktop into the shop today as the hard drive wouldn't recognize anything and no boot up. It had this ominous clicking going on while it tried to boot itself up. The computer guy told me that this could be the infamous click of death.

Sometime next week I might get it back, until then, I'm on the back up and am updating what I can given its smaller capacity. My other system was running XP Pro and it had all by business files plus other items of importance. If that system's HD had truly kicked the bucket, does anyone know where I can get or borrow a XP Pro disk to re-install that OS? The computer guy stated that he could try to recover as much data as possible. Great, I figure I lost all my documents, files, PDFs, and other goodies plus all the system software tweaks. The only good news is that I'll most likely upgrade to a much larger HD.

I'm sure someone will mention that I should upgrade to Vista. I will in a couple years after all the bugs, fixes and patches get introduced and fixed. Until then, I stick with what I'm used to and know works.

Can you believe that back-up PC had Win 98ME on it? Damn that's some old shit.
