Since I'm the go-to gal at work for computers, I've made sure to install firefox on every single computer the teachers use...however, sometimes the teachers will still use IE (despite numerous warnings) and it is always inevitable that after they use it, I have to fix whatever problems IE has created.

the great thing about IE is that drunken morons like me can operate it to some degree.

I think IE is ok if you use a little precaution but I'd advise anyone that uses it regularly to install your updates regularly (Tools > Windows Update). Right now it's the exploits for the various operating systems that are being attacked, it has very little to with viruses currently.

I installed Firefox about 4-5 years ago (Wow. It's been that long already?), and never looked back.

The only people I know who still use IE are old geezers (no offense, birdman! :rofl), and people who are completely new to computers (and thus use only what they are presented with - IE).

I love Firefox. There are so many ways to customize your browser. I even have an IE button in Firefox just in case I need to use the IE browser to view a web page that doesn't support Firefox.

Here's what pisses me off...everyone says IE sucks because it is insecure. If 80% of browsers are IE, then 80% of hackers will exploit IE, and not waist time on other browsers. People focus on exploits for MS because it is number one, and most widely used. Why should people waist time finding exploits for Firefox, if the majority uses IE?

That must be me, I use it because the model I'm using is a 64 bit version, parts that sucks about it is the lack of flash support (like youtube) since they're all currently on the 32 bit platform. It has a few other limitations as well (I can't load the chatroom into it) but I expect to see it to be the future is Mozilla.

PS: Metropipe works well thru it.

Actually, although I have that extension just in case, I haven't found many pages recently that don't function right in Firefox. Microsoft used to be pretty sore losers and didn't allow Firefox access to their update/resource pages - but I've recently downloaded several things from their site without any trouble at all. Firefox must be getting more compatible the Internet over.

I have a Ubuntu/XP dual boot machine. I go back and forth as the need arises. But I do find myself using IE most of the time out of sheer habit. I don't have too many problems, though. I just reconfigured how IE handles activeX controls.
