The first thing that will happen is that the press will declare it a "constitutional crisis" and try to stir the shit as hard as they can stir it. I'm not sure what the ramifications would be because the candidates are normally chosen during their respective party's primaries. Now, this is just my personal opinion and logic, but there were basically two democrats running for the nomination, right? Okay, if Obongo gets disqualified, then shouldn't the nomination fall to the runner-up in the primary race? I would think so. That would mean Hillary Clinton would be the candidate in a new election if one were mandated. The people voted for Obongo and Biden as a ticket with Obongo as the head. I'm not sure if Obongo could get tossed and Biden become the president instead because Obongo hasn't taken office yet. Here's the really important question that needs to be addressed: Where it concerns Patriot Acts 1 & 2, could a major national chimpout be all the reason Bush needs to declare martial law in this country? Yeah, but a Constitutional Amendment is a long process, usually taking years. It's very difficult on purpose, so we don't try to change it at the drop of a hat!

Besides, there are enough red states that this deal would never come to light. you need 2/3 of the states to ratify.
