Managed to do a non-caucasian modification to get online today, but it's still not working correctly {the old keyboard I'm currently using has the top/number row that will not work.} I think my children did something to it because the monitor and keyboard went out the same night.

Hope to be back, soon {I can't get Chimpout on my cell. ;pouting;}

Don't bother trying to clean/fix it. It's not worth the trouble. You can get a nice new one at any Electronics retailer (Radio Shack) for about $20. Staples and Office Depot have a good selection.

Don't know where you are in the country, but you should stop by a Goodwill store and check out their old computer equipment. For the most part, it's truly obsolete garbage (serial ports, tape drives, etc), but every once in a while their inexperienced staff will let modern pieces — such as USB keyboards and scanners — slip through to the shelves. I've gotten basically brand new, working wireless keyboards and other gear for as little as $5 apiece at Goodwill. I always shop at Goodwill first before resorting to the electronics stores.

If you don't care about ergonomic keyboards you can get a new one from Big Lots for less than $10, if you don't mind used you can usually find a decent one at some of non-chain computer stores for about that range as well (they get these from businesses so they're usually beige, dirty looking, but are very durable).

Thanks. I took the monitor from another computer, but couldn't use the other keyboard without the startup disk for it, so ended up buying a new one. I finally got my children to admit what happened (they were having a water fight. Ugh.)
