Here is another liberal whackjob that is in need of some serious education, but I really like his music. I like the rootsy rock/folk style and think he is a great songwriter. My father has some of his records, from the Johnny Cougar years to the regular John Mellencamp days. I like to give them a listen every now and then. I really enjoy some of his more retrospective songs, like "Cherry Bomb." "I Need A Lover"/"Hurts So Good" are classics, as well as "Small Town."

I unfortunately just recently heard that he performed some songs at an Osambo rally, and apparently he did the same at a Clinton rally earlier in the year. As with most of my music, I discount much of what the musician's personal like consists of and I focus on the music.

So don't shoot me guys!

He plays good folksy American roots mucic but he is A BRAINDEAD LIBERAL FREAKSHOW. Don't buy his records because God only knows what you'd be supporting.

I am with ya Blackmetal, some of his shit is good old fashioned rock and roll.

The guy grew up in Bloomington, IN. He obviously has never seen niggers in their environment. I spent a weekend there once and it was a nice little Midwest college town with no niggers anywhere.

Sorry, I always thought he sucked and his band sucked worse than he did.
His drummer is a one-beat wonder; I think a retard could sound better bashing on an empty plastic gas can with a stick. ...and 'Small Town'? Nigga please! It's so sappy and stereotypical it makes me want to puke.

Liked one or two of his songs, but never really kept up news about him. After learning how he made a song supporting the Jena apes, I learned exactly what he was all about.

Yeah, I liked him when he was just John Cougar...but that was long ago.
It's funny how when some artists achieve mega success, they feel the need to pontificate and moralize to us little people. Well fuck that...shutup, and ENTERTAIN me.

I liked "when the walls come tumbling down"...

I've never cared for springsteen or dylan - both hacks in my book - the spoof that John C. Reilly did on dylan in that dewey cox movie about said it all...the white bass player says while watching cox parody a dylanesque song - what the fuck is he singing about? The doped up nigger says to the white guy: "it's just too deep for you to understand." I rest my case.

I was a Cougar fan up until the "Paper & Fire" video when he kissed that nigger.
That was it for me.

An oildriller too? That makes him worse than Springsteen!

He has had a lot of different versions of "his band". A fellow named David Grissom played with him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeGI__MK4y4. The stuff he did for JCM was not all that great, but he went on to play with Joe Ely, and Storyville, and he tore it up live and on disc. David definitely did not suck.
