DeRonnie Spencer, a rising 3rd year junior at Lanier High School was expected to meet the 1.0 GPA required to move on to the twelfth grade. If it is any consolation, DeRonnie would have been legal to consume alcohol at his graduation party.

Well, you can only go up from getting across-the-board FAILs in all classes. So if he was getting a "D" or two this year, then he was "rising."
