D.A.C has some decent hits. Some really good drinking songs too. I saw him for free with my brother on a farm for free. They wanted 20 bucks but the fence was only chest high so we just stood back and saw him for nothing. Needless to say, not a crowd you would see a nigger at. The guy was looking rough though.

I don't know if it's just ignorance or some kind of malicious conspiracy, but have you noticed how many Johnny Rebel songs are erroneously attributed to David Allen Coe? Try searching just the word "nigger" in your P2P or torrent client, and see how many times David Allen Coe's name pops up — I mean, he's listed as singing Nigger Hatin' Me and Who Likes a Nigger and many other Johnny Rebel songs. WTF is that all about? Are the uploaders just stupid, or are they trying to make DAC seem like the king hell nigger hater of all time?

It's also interesting to note that some Johnny Rebel standards are attributed to Johnny Horton, the guy who wrote Battle of New Orleans and North to Alaska and a bunch of other "country" hits in the late 50s. As far as I know, Horton wasn't a nigger hater, and he died at the height of his career, about 7 years before C.J. Trahan (Johnny Rebel) started writing and performing his classic nigger-hating songs.

Yeah, Cowboys and Niggers is often mis-attributed to David Allen Coe and even to Rodney Carrington — Rodney writes some pretty raunchy shit, but he hasn't crossed the nigger-hating line to my knowledge. That song is most frequently attributed to Johnny Rebel (C.J. Trahan), but I believe that's wrong, too. Cowboys and Niggers was released under the name "James Crow," which is of course somebody's alias, but it's not Johnny Rebel.
