Hi guys (and gals)..

In the mood for a good creeping-out?

Try reading World War Z by Max Brooks. It's an "oral history" of the worldwide Zombie war that breaks out in the near future. In my opinion, it's very well written and creepy enough for me to have kept looking over my shoulder while I was reading it at night.

The 'interviews' are regular people, doctors, soldiers, survivors, Generals, guys on the International Space Station, sub captains, etc, etc.. just a cross section of everyone from all over the globe. It documents how they reacted to the zombie outbreak, what worked, what didn't work, how they survived the undead hoardes (the guy that was on the Int'l Space Station talks about 'jacking into military spy satellites to get a look of what's going on down on Earth- it gets really creepy when he mentions "mega-swarms' of undead on the Great Plains that measure miles across...)

At times it can be funny (calling survivors LaMOE's (pronounced Lame-O's) which stands for Last Man On Earth or Robinson Crusoes- survivors that somehow lived through the waves of undead and not only survived, but thrived..), at times poignant, very creepy and sometimes very sad..

Brooks did a damn good job writing this... it's available just about everywhere... I downloaded Kindel for free and then downloaded the book for less than 10 bucks... well worth the money, too.

PS Best part is that some of the defensive measures taken can be potentially used in the case of a nationwide Bongo-party!!! (Hence my pet nicknames for niggers: Tar Zombies).

Max Brooks is the son of Mel Brooks, so it can be very comical at times.

What I found especially comical is his absolute ignorance of firearms. Towards the end of the war, the military develops a new rifle which is simple and easy to make and chambered in 5.56/.223... uh... this isn't new; what he described was basically a Galil. And he wrote about soldiers complaining about it having too much recoil :lol

It is a very entertaining book though, and overall well written.

Of special note to Chimpers: when the UN was trying to cover up the zombie virus, they call it "African Rabies" in the media :lol

As a big fan of the original Romero films and the Return of The Living Dead campy films I vouch for this.
At the very least it's entertaining as hell. Read it or play it on Audio, pop a few cans of suds, sit back and relax.
Let your imagination run with it :)

You're right about the ignorance of firearms... I had to laugh when he was going on about recoil and then mentioned the 5.56mm... I was like WTF?

I thought a good idea would have been zippo tanks... light tank equipped with a large flamethrower. It would crisp Zeke the Geek pretty well and when you run low on gelled fuel, you can just run over them. Squishing Zeke is just as good as shooting him, so long as you have enough fuel to get back to friendly lines or safe zones.. each should have a coax machinegun to clean off hangers-on before bugging out back to friendly lines.
