I just recently started getting into bands like Tyr and Amon Amarth and I wondered if anyone likes them/had any other suggestions :)

Yeah, some Viking Metal is pretty good! I'm a big fan of Ensiferum, highly recommended. thumbsup

They're Viking with strong melodeath ,folk and power metal influences. Their sound is very epic, uplifting and somewhat heavy. While working out, you can go wrong listening to Ensiferum. :rock If you like them, check out Wintersun, the former Ensiferum singer started this band. In my opinion, Wintersun is less "Viking-y" and heavier on the death metal side.

Absurd, Thors Hammer, Aasgard... All excellent Black Metal bands from Scandinavia

Thank you :) I'm not very well versed in black metal. Aside from the obvious like emperor and immortal I've always found it a bit childish. I guess I got put off because I like Bathory's Nordland I & II albums and loads of their fans I've spoken to hated those albums lol

Yeah Tyr rocks - a while back I had the Erik The Red album permanently on my car stereo :rock

Turisas are also excellent. I saw them live a few months ago, and the support band were Alestorm, from Scotland. One of the best gigs I've been to in ages :rock

Yeah alestorm are great on stage. I saw Tyr and Alestorm at bloodstock a couple of months back, they were both great.
